Guide To NLP in Edinburgh

Similar to hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a form of therapy that can create rapid life changes.

It derives its name from "Neuro" = Brain, "Linguistic" = Language and "Programming" because it's about controlling the way your mind works and the language you use to talk to yourself in order to get the results you want in life.

NLP was created in the USA in the 1970's by two men, Richard Bandler and John Grinder. Bandler and Grinder believed that our experiences of and beliefs about life are determined by subjective, rather than objective, experience - i.e. the pictures we make in our heads, our inner dialogue and language. And that this subjective world was ultimately controlled by our habitual patterns of thinking.

They then found out that, by using some simple techniques, they could change people's habitual thinking patterns and, therefore, that person's beliefs and attitudes. And, when someone's beliefs and attitudes are changed, their behaviour changes, too.

And, from this, NLP was born.
